There are many centres to use as a base during your holiday on Crete and below is a small selection of villages or towns that may be suitable and are within 'easy' reach of the shooting range.
|Chania||The main city of the area. The Old Town and Venetian Harbour are two of the well known areas. There are regular bus services, during the summer, to localities throughout western Crete. (Out of season services are less frequent). There are different types of accommodation available from luxury hotels to self catering apartments.|
|Kalyves||A short distance to the east of Chania, Kalyves is not only a holiday venue but also a working village. There is also a small fishing harbour.|
|Almyrida||Almyrida is the next resort to the east of Kalyves and also boasts a Blue Flag beach|
|Vamos||Although inland, Vamos has become popular due to accommodation in traditional buildings.|
|Georgioupoli||One of the famous beaches on Crete is at Georgioupoli. The resort has many hotels (and other accommodation) close to the fishing harbour and long sandy beaches.|
|Sfakia||On the south coast and reasonably close to the shooting range there are a few villages with various types of accommodation. The best known is Hora Sfakion, where boats transfer visitors to and from the Samaria Gorge and Loutro.|
